Thomas J. Hopkins - Managing Director

Tom Hopkins founded Colchester Capital, LLC in 2003 and leads all investment activities for the firm. In addition to his principal activities, Hopkins has over 19 years of investment banking experience at Deutsche Bank (and its predecessor Alex. Brown), Goldman Sachs and Bear Stearns. He started his investment banking career at Drexel Burnham Lambert.

Hopkins has worked on a large variety of capital raising and strategic advisory transactions for companies in a wide range of industries including the communications, technology, healthcare and industrial sectors. He has completed over 80 financing and advisory transactions representing approximately $13 billion in aggregate value. He has extensive experience in restructurings and leverage finance and has been the principal banker on dozens of restructurings, recapitalizations and high yield financings. In addition, Hopkins has originated and executed IPO's, secondary equity offerings and convertible debt offerings as well as merger and acquisition transactions.

Prior to investment banking, Hopkins worked as an attorney for four years, focusing on litigation and general corporate work. His educational background includes an M.B.A. (Wharton), a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.



Gregory J. Burkus, Advisor

Burkus has worked on over 100 financing and advisory assignments totaling over $19 billion in value for companies in a range of industries, including technology, consumer, transportation, energy and financial services. Since 1994, Burkus has focused mainly on the technology industry, particularly in the software, IT services and semiconductor sectors.

Mr. Burkus also has extensive experience in restructurings and leveraged finance. He has worked on, among others, the restructurings of Tivoli Audio, Synchronoss Technologies, Wang Laboratories, TWA, Sun Carriers, Emerson Radio, Carter Hawley Hale and Macys. He has been the principal banker on a diverse set of transactions, including M&A transactions, restructurings, exchange offers, private financings, IPOs, follow-on equity offerings, convertible bond offerings, and high yield financings. He has led transactions for the following clients: Advanced Metrology Systems, MeMedia, Click Tactics, Brooks Automation, International Electronics, Bluestone Software, Exchange Applications, Hyperion Software, Spyglass, Eprise, Fairchild Semiconductor, LTX Corporation, ATMI, Brooks Automation, ADE, Sipex, Amkor, EMC, Polaroid, Datastream, Open Solutions, netGenesis, Braun Consulting, Breakaway Solutions, i-Cube and NEC.

Greg Burkus has been affiliated with Colchester Capital, LLC for over seven years and has been an investment banker for over 20-years at Shasta Partners, Alex. Brown & Sons, Morgan Stanley & Co. and Drexel Burnham Lambert.


Burkus received his Masters in Management with a concentration in Finance and Accounting from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. Burkus is Series 7, 24, 28, and 63 certified

Jennifer Ritter, CFA, Senior Associate

Jennifer Ritter is responsible for financial analysis and execution support at Colchester Capital, LLC. Jennifer has extensive financial and analytic experience having worked as an equity research analyst for over a dozen years on Wall Street at both Lehman Brothers and Sanford Bernstein. Jennifer has covered a wide range of companies in a variety of industries ranging from Transportation to Communications. She completed her CFA in 1999.

Recently Jennifer has also consulted for Pfizers Corporate Strategy department and Citigroups Global Wealth Management unit. Prior to that, she was a Senior Research Analyst (following Airfreight and Surface Transportation) for Lehman Brothers. While there, Jennifer won Top Analyst in Bloomberg Magazines Top Analyst survey, which tracks the stock picking expertise of analysts. She also appeared on Wall Street Week with FORTUNE, Bloomberg, WebTV, and was quoted in various newspapers and journals. Jennifer was also a Research Associate for the Wireless Services Industry at Lehman, and a Research Associate at Sanford C. Bernstein following the Financials.

Jennifer is a graduate of Columbia Business School and the College of the Holy Cross. She lives in Chatham with her husband and three children.
